A BINGO hall has won a £750,000 boost that will see five new jobs.
Mecca Bingo, in Hartlepool, is going to get a £750,000 refurbishment aimed at transforming it into a modern day leisure venue.
It is part of a wider project which Mecca is calling ‘Full House’ and is based around creating a modern, sociable gaming concept that will see people in Hartlepool able to play a number of games in a variety of different ways and on a wider range of gaming products.
Changes to the club will include an exterior makeover, new contemporary lounge and social areas, a new feature bar in the lounge area which will include Costa Coffee services, an upgraded amusements area, refurbished toilets and improved smoking facilities.
The night-time entertainment programme for the club, which is owned by The Rank Group, will feature regular live acts taking to the new stage to offer customers an enhanced leisure experience.
General manager of the town facility, Gavin Lee, said: “We are delighted to be investing £750,000 in Hartlepool, bringing five job roles to the local area.
“We look forward to recruiting the new team members ready for the re-launch in November.
“We originally opened our club in Hartlepool back in 1996, but since then the market has changed significantly.”
New concepts at the club include the social lounge in which people can chat to friends, listen to music and enjoy food and drink brought to the table.
The main auditorium will continue to cater for those who wish to continue playing their favourite game as they have always done.
Mr Lee added: “The new concept is an evolution of social gaming as we know it. The venue will improve the experience for the traditional player while offering many different levels of social interaction.
“Whether you’re going for a bite to eat with friends, enjoying live entertainment or the regular events, the refurbished Hartlepool venue will become a leading social venue.”
