POLICE have closed a road leading to a village.
Dalton Back Lane, which leads to Dalton Piercy on the outskirts of Hartlepool, has been closed in both directions due to flooding.
Police are reminding people not to drive unless completely necessary and would like to thank drivers and residents for their patience moving out of the key rush hour period.
Superintendent Ciaron Irvine, of Cleveland Police, said: “Road closures will have been frustrating for drivers; however they are necessary in order to appropriately deal with the widespread flooding across Cleveland and keep communities safe.
“Our advice is to stay off the roads unless it’s completely necessary and if you must drive, drive slowly – particularly through standing water, and keep a safe distance from the car in front. Drivers should plan their journey in advance and give sufficient time for their journey.”
