A PLAY written by a 19-year-old will take centre stage at a town theatre.

A Taste of Honey comes to the Town Hall theatre in Hartlepool on Thursday, March 18.

Shelagh Delaney was 19 when she wrote the play which became a West End hit in 1959 before transferring to the big screen two years later.

A Taste of Honey tells the story of a women who lives with her irresponsible mother, has a relationship with a sailor who leaves her pregnant, and is then looked after by a gay student.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets priced £10 or £9 with concessions are available by contacting the theatre box office on (01429) 890000.
