A MAN was arrested on suspicion of burglary at Hartlepool's shopping centre.
Police say the suspect was arrested after allegedly being caught in a staff room in the Paperbox card shop, in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, yesterday afternoon.

He was arrested at the scene and led to a police van by officers in Victoria Road at around 3.30pm.

Inspector Anne-Marie Salwey, of Hartlepool Police, said: "We detained a male on suspicion of a burglary in one of the shops having entered the staff area.

"PCSOs were in the area and he was arrested and brought in to be dealt with."

The man was still being questioned about the incident this morning.
