MEMBERS from a discarded BBQ are being blamed for a fire that destroyed 6ft of garden fence.

Fire crews from Stranton Station were called to a house in Heathfield Drive, Hartlepool, at around noon on Friday.

They said it appeared the owners had used the BBQ the previous night and the embers were placed into a wheelie bin in the back garden but were not out and the wheelie bin and fence caught fire.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire crews were there for around ten minutes.
