A MAN found dead off the coast of Hartlepool has been identified.
Jerry Decrescenzo, 45, from Billingham, was spotted in the water at the North Gare, near Seaton Carew, at around 11am on Saturday.

Hartlepool Lifeboat Station launched its all-weather and inshore lifeboats, and were on the scene 10 minutes later.

Mr Decrescenzo was a taxi driver for Billingham-based firm Crown Cars, and had worked for the company for around 10 years.

Mr Decrescenzo is thought to have lived with his partner.

An RNLI spokesman said: "The crew of the inshore lifeboat located the body of a male adult close to the North Gare.

"The body was taken on board the in-shore lifeboat and transferred to the all weather lifeboat.

"It was then brought back to Hartlepool Lifeboat Station where the coastguard, paramedics and the police attended the scene."
