Calendar girls go back to the future

BREAST cancer survivors went back in time as they became calendar girls for the day.
Members of the Pansies Breast Cancer Support Group donned old-fashioned clothes for the photo shoot at Beamish open air museum, in County Durham.
The support group released their third calendar this week to coincide with national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Proceeds from its sales will boost the work of Pansies which provides support, including financial help, to victims of cancer.
Isobel Wilson, 62, founder of the group, said: "We wanted to do something a bit different this year, and rang a few places and finished up at Beamish.
"We had a brilliant day. The people at Beamish were very nice and the lady who sorted out our clothes was very helpful.
"There were a lot of people taking our pictures, they thought we were part of the museum."
The 2009 calendar features Pansies members in a series of poses. Isobel added: "We have had 1,500 printed and if we can sell them all we will be pleased with that.
"We wanted it out for the beginning of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help increase awareness."
The group, which meets at the Grand Hotel in Hartlepool every Monday, helps to fund child care, hospital, travel costs and cosmetic accessories for breast cancer patients and their families.
The group hopes to boost its coffers even more when it stages a fashion show fundraising night at the Mayfair Centre in Seaton Carew on Friday, October 17.
The Pansies calendar costs £3 and tickets for the fashion show are £5.
Both are available from Isobel Wilson on (01429) 423213 or Ann Dixon on (01429) 234977.
