POLICE have seized 27 cannabis plants after a raid on a house.

Officers from Peterlee Police found the plants growing in an upstairs bedroom of the property in Gorehill Estate, in Thornley, when they executed a search warrant at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

Heating and lighting equipment and a small bag, suspected of containing steroids, were all discovered, said a police spokesman.

He said the value of the cannabis plants is not yet known.

A 39-year-old man was cautioned for cultivation of cannabis after being questioned by detectives in Durham City.
