HANDS up all of you who fell for our April Fool's Day spoof yesterday!
Our story on council plans to order the owner of horse-drawn carriage firm to paint his animals yellow certainly fooled a few of you, judging by some of the calls and emails that came into the Mail office yesterday.
We told how Tony Simpson, of Dream Day Carriages, was being forced to dye his horses so they would blend in with the fleets of bright yellow taxis that operate in and around Hartlepool.
As well as the timing of the story – on April 1 – the name of the council spokeswoman quoted in the tale should also have been a giveaway, as Flora Lipo is an anagram of April Fool. We're pleased to report that Mr Simpson's plans to operate the horse-drawn tours around town are still on track.
Thank you to him and Hartlepool Borough Council for playing along with the joke.
