A POLICE sergeant has launched his own investigation into a piece of force history.

Sergeant Tim Brown of Hartlepool's neighbourhood police team, bought a stirrup clock in an online auction after seeing it was inscribed with the words "To Colonel H G Faber from Stockton Police 1957".

The keen historian and collector of police memorabilia is now seeking the original owner of the force relic or anyone with information about the piece.

Sgt Brown said: "The clock is a stirrup clock and is basically a stirrup, as seen on saddles, with a clock suspended on it.

"Despite a significant search I cannot find any further information about Colonel Faber, or his connection to Stockton police and I would love it if somebody could shed any light on this."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sgt Brown at Hartlepool Police Station on (01642) 302126.
