AN international company with a local factory has posted half-year profits which have seen a huge rise.
Pharmaceutical firm SSL International, which opened a £12m factory in Peterlee in 2001, saw its six-month profits to September 30 rise by 59 per cent to £51.9m.
The company is best known for its global consumer healthcare brands Durex condoms and Scholl footcare and footwear.
Bosses say its first half performance was helped by a weaker pound and overseas acquisitions.
