A TEENAGE cyclist was left with head injuries after a hit-and-run incident.

The 18-year-old was crossing Marsh House Avenue, in Billingham, when he was hit by a car whose driver left him lying on the road near the junction with the Link Way.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where he is described as being in a stable condition.
Inspector Ian Gromwell, of Cleveland Police, described the incident at 7pm yesterday as a "serious collision".

He said: "A cyclist was struck by a car as he was crossing Marsh House Avenue.

"The vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene and is described as a hatchback, maybe silver in colour."
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to contact PC Jayson Morris at the road traffic unit on (01642) 301552.
