POST Office bosses say the main concern they received was the potential impact the closure might have on elderly people and the availability of a regular bus service to alternative branches.

Concern was also raised about what effect it would have on the number of care homes in the area.

The nearest alternative branch is Rift House Estate branch, in Oxford Road, about half a mile away along "level paths".

Roadside parking is available and the branch has ramp access and automatic doors.

The second nearest alternative branch is in Middleton Grange shopping centre, less than a mile away along "level paths".

The Post Office say the needs of elderly and disabled customers were considered but it concluded that the two alternative branches offered good access.

Once again Post Office bosses were satisfied that those branches have the capacity to absorb the expected increase in customers.
