Hundreds of people have already enjoyed a range of entertainment since the launch of the East Durham Music Festival at the beginning of October.

And the Durham County Council-run event will finish this weekend with a final selection of toe-tapping performances.

Four-piece indie rockers The Flytes will be taking to the stage at Peterlee Leisure Centre for a Freaky Weasel album launch tonight.

The band are being touted as the next big thing to come out of the North East and have played gigs in Europe and America, including supporting Gomez at Newcastle Academy.

Tomorrow, the Johnny Storm Band will bring their brand of 1950s rock'n'roll to Easington Social Welfare Centre from 6.45pm.

Durham County Brass Band Association's annual gradings contest will close the festival on Sunday.

Twenty of the county's top brass bands will take part in the competition at East Durham College's Lubetkin Theatre, in Willerby Grove, from 10am.
