THREE filmmakers will showcase their recently-made movie about their community at Westminster next week.
The three teenagers, Anthony Cowell, Zac Morrill and Lauren Glen, from English Martyrs School, in Catcote Road, Hartlepool, have made a short film called Isolation along with local film company Shoot Your Mouth Off.
The film highlights the need
for more to be done about their community.
It focuses on three young people who feel they don't belong in their own community because all of the money is being pumped into keeping troublemakers off the streets.
Anthony, Zac and Lauren attend the Barnardo's Young People's centre, B76, in Church Street, Hartlepool, which is a local advice and information centre.
The centre runs the ArtReach project, which involves youngsters making a range of films from domestic violence and bullying to drinking and drug problems.
The three students were selected along with seven other groups from across the country as part of a competition held by the National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations (NCVCCO), the National Voluntary Youth Services.
Jill Bousfield, of Barnardo's B76 project, who worked with Anthony, Zac and Lauren, said: "The film acknowledges there are facilities out there for young people, but these can be difficult to access for quieter youngsters, who may feel intimidated by others."
Anthony, Zac and Lauren will also be hosting a discussion in which they will talk about their film and why they chose their subject.
The film will be seen in Westminster by the communities secretary, Hazel Blears MP, and minister for the third sector, Phil Hope, as well as key policy representatives from the Local Government Association.
