PEOPLE have the chance to keep up to date with issues affecting their area thanks to free newsletters being distributed by a political party.

The UK Independence Party (UKIP) will be distributing its newsletters in the following wards – Rossmere, Foggy Furze, Fens and Hart this week.

Party chiefs hope to extend the coverage to more wards with each issue.

The newsletter, which feat
ures reports on post office closures and potential primary school closures in Hartlepool, is free and will be posted to residents.

Press secretary for the Hartlepool branch of UKIP, Dave Pascoe, said: "The aim is for the newsletters to be sent out quarterly and we have received a lot of positive feedback from the last one we sent out.

"We would like to send these newsletters out to every ward across Hartlepool, but that ultimately depends on finances and circumstances."

The St Hilda ward newsletter is expected to be distributed to residents later in the month.

The UK Independence Party will be holding their annual national conference at the Bournemouth International Centre, in Bournemouth, today and tomorrow.

Hartlepool Councillor Steve Allison, of the St Hilda Ward, will be speaking at the conference about the party's national campaign activities.
