MORE steelworkers are considering industrial action – just hours after a ballot was announced in Hartlepool.
The Mail told earlier this week how workers at the Brenda Road plant of steel giants Corus have started a ballot for industrial action in the continuing dispute over pensions and bonuses.

Around 370 people work at the plant.

The ballot will last until Monday, November 9, and workers will be voting on two possible decisions – whether to consider industrial action short of a strike or whether to take strike action.

Now comes news that steelworkers at the Corus Orb plant, South Wales, have agreed to ballot for industrial action over non payment of bonuses at the UK steel giant.

More than 300 steelworkers are affected and Community Union national officer for steel, Roy Rickhuss, said: "Community Union have repeatedly stated that we are willing to sit down and talk.

"But we will not allow Corus to put a gun to our head and negotiate away our members terms and conditions under duress."

Workers at Corby, in Wales, are also planning a ballot, but the dates for the Corby and Orb ballots are to be confirmed.
