DOCUMENTS outlining the primary education and health care vision of a political group has sparked a reaction from rivals.

The Mail yesterday revealed that Hartlepool Labour Group had released documents outlining their views on the Primary Capital Programme (PCP) and the future of health care.

Now rival political parties have denounced their vision which is outlined
in the two documents; The Way Forward: Health and The Way Forward: Primary Capital Programme.

Councillor Jonathan Brash, leader of the Hartlepool Labour Group, stressed that it was important that people knew what the party stood for.

The documents reveal that members don't support the closure of Rossmere, Owton Manor or Ward Jackson Primary Schools, however they believe the closure of Elwick and Hart represents the best option in terms of long-term viability.

The document also reveals that the Wynyard site is the preferred option for the new hospital and that car parking at the new site should be free.

Councillors from the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and Independents have all given their reaction to the Mail.

The Mayor of Hartlepool, Stuart Drummond and education chiefs at Hartlepool Borough Council say the documents will be considered as part of an ongoing consultation exercise into the PCP.

Mayor Drummond, said: "I assume that this is their official reply to the Primary Capital Programme consultation.

"Their views will be considered along with everybody elses."
Hartlepool Borough Council say they welcome any views and they will all be taken into account before any further consultation takes place.

A council spokesman said: "As part of the consultation process we have urged the community to get involved and let us have their views.

"All of the comments and suggestions received will be taken into account before we consult further on any proposed changes," he added.
