HARTLEPOOL United chairman Ken Hodcroft says he hopes the club can buy Victoria Park by the end of the year.
In his notes in last night's match programme he said Hartlepool Borough Council supports intentions by the club to buy the ground in principle.
Mr Hodcroft said: "We held a meeting with the council to put forward our ideas and followed that up with an offer in writing last month.
"We have received a letter back outlining their thoughts on the matter.
"There appears to still be some items to discuss, but the council in principle support the idea.
"However, the owners would like this concluded before the year end."
