THE consultation team received concerns about the lengthy waiting times at the alternative branches, the availability of car parking and disabled access at alternative branches.

The house clearance programme in the Dyke House area was also raised as the new developments may attract increased customers.

Middleton Road Post Office, in Raby Road, is the nearest alternative branch, half a mile away along "largely level paths".

The branch has level access and there is restricted parking in the street opposite.

The second nearest branch is Middleton Grange shopping centre, a mile away along "mainly level paths". The branch has level access and a full range of facilities, including car tax payment and on-demand foreign currency.

Post Office bosses say they were satisfied there is sufficient capacity in both these branches to absorb the expected increase in customers.
