HUNDREDS of people paid tribute to those who have given their lives during conflict.
A number of services were held across Hartlepool and east Durham over the weekend to remember those killed in conflict – and those now serving in the armed forces.
SLIDESHOW: Remembrance Sunday, 2007Hartlepool, services were organised by the Combined Ex-Service Associations and the borough council took place at Victory Square and Redheugh Gardens, on the Headland.
The Victory Square service started with a march from the Market Place and was conducted by the Reverend Val Towler, of St George's United Reformed Church.
Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond said: "There is always an excellent turn out for the service in Victory Square and the other services across Hartlepool.
"It is always a very poignant service and it is important that we pay our respects.

"It's important we remember the many lives that have been lost over the years from people who were fighting for the country."
The Headland parade assembled in Church Walk before marching to the Headland War Memorial for the service by the Reverend John Goode, of St Hilda's Church.
On Saturday, the Royal Artillery Association held a service of remembrance at the Stranton Military Plot, in Stranton Cemetery, Hartlepool.
Peterlee Town Council organised a procession from the Royal British Legion club to St Cuthbert's Church.
And Horden Parish Council held its own remembrance service at St Mary's Church following a march from the village war memorial.
