A BRAVE father of three is sporting a new tattoo after going under the needle in the name of charity.
John Maitland has had a woman's face tattooed on to the top of his leg in memory of his step-father Ian Reynolds, a bus driver who died of a heart attack last year.
Eddie's Tattoo Studio, in Third Street, Horden, designed and created the tattoo, and promised to donate its hourly rate to Glendene School, in Easington Colliery.
John, 38, from Allerton Close, in Hartlepool, said: "I didn't know what the design was going to be like – I left that to the tattooist.
"I'm covered in tattoos already, this one is on the top of my leg."
It took the tattoo artist four hours to complete and John was delighted with his finished product.
John, who is married to Kelly Ann, 29, and has three children, Selina, nine, Jonjo, seven, and Nathan, five, said: "The pain is the best bit about it."
Headteacher at Glendene School, Eric Baker, said: "We are delighted with the fundraising that John is doing for us.
"It's in memory of his step-father who used to be on the buses and he would escort a lot of the children into school.
"He is raising money for seating for our pupils outside."
