THE dad of a teenager killed in a car crash has thanked people who backed a fundraising event.
Peter Skinner, father of Joel Skinner, who was killed with Kelsey Anderson in a car crash in 2006, thanked fundraisers for backing a charity dip at Seaton Carew to raise cash for medics who cared for his son.

Peter says he raised more than £150 and has vowed to continue fundraising for the critical care unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool through

an annual convoy through town.

He also wants to hold a charity night next year.

Peter, 55, of Wynyard Road, Hartlepool, said: "I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me from E&F Composites and the Engineers Social Club.

"I would also like to thank my partner, Margaret Mahony, for her help over the last two years.

"We are going to try to organise a charity night some time next year. We had one two years ago and raised £3,000."

The charity dip saw around 20 friends and relatives brave the North Sea in fancy dress on Sunday and release 21 balloons to mark Joel's 21st birthday, which would have been yesterday.

Joel and Kelsey were killed following a crash in Burn Road, Hartlepool, on September 22, 2006.

On Wednesday, September 24, an annual convoy from Seaton Carew's Sandy car park to Teesside Park will be held in memory of Joel and Kelsey.

Anyone can take part for a donation of £5 per car and drivers are being asked to arrive by 5.15pm.
