A WELL-RESPECTED chiropractor has died in hospital.
Doctor Ken Rose, 43, who ran the Mermaid Chiropractor Clinic, in Hartlepool's Queens Meadow Industrial Estate, passed away in Middlesbrough's St Luke's Hospital.
An inquest into his death was set to be opened at Middlesbrough Magistrates Court this afternoon.
A spokeswoman for St Luke's Hospital said: "We can confirm that Ken Rose died at the hospital on Sunday morning and we are currently co-operating with the coroner."
Stephen Close, who runs Apollo Blinds, who was a friend of Dr Rose, said: "He was such a lovely, happy bloke. He was the most inoffensive and pleasant person you could ever hope to meet.
"It is a real tragedy for his family."
The Mail visited his medical centre earlier today and were told that none of his staff were in work.
His parents, who live in Catcote Road, said they were too upset to speak at the moment.
Dr Rose grew up in Hartlepool and served in the Navy for a number of years.
He has appeared in the Mail a number of times over the years and said he loved his job and would see around 100 patients per week, ranging from babies aged just three months old, to people in their 90s.
Dr Rose was keen on yoga and martial arts and became interested in chiropractics when his instructor handed him a book on the subject.
He went on to study at Bournemouth University and became accredited by the Scottish Chiropractic Association.
After becoming qualified, Dr Rose worked from the Victoria Road Health Centre, before moving to his own premises in York Road, and then finally to Queens Meadow.
During work Dr Rose would treat people from all walks of life for a range of ailments, including back pain, asthma and migraines.
Chiropractors treat people by working with the spine and skeletal system in order to affect the way a person's nervous system functions.
