A MAN was stabbed in the hand and beaten up in a street attack.
Wayne Bates, 45, suffered minor injuries in the attack, which happened at around 9pm on Thursday in Gray Street, Hartlepool.

Police believe a knife may have been used to stab the victim in the hand outside his home in what is said to be an "unprovoked attack".

Detective Sergeant Ken Bennett, of Hartlepool CID said: "He has also been hit about the head with some implement. It was unprovoked, allegedly."

Two men, aged 45 and 22 were questioned by police yesterday and charged with wounding.

They were remanded in custody and were due to appear at Hartlepool Magistrates' Court today.
