RESIDENTS are being urged to come together and take part in a national event to boost community spirit.
The Big Lunch is aiming to bring neighbourhoods together on Sunday, June 5, by getting as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours.
The Eden Project event, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and supported by MasterCard and EDF Energy, began in 2009.
It has since seen Big Lunches take place across the UK.
Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond said: “I am delighted to support The Big Lunch initiative and applaud the efforts to promote friendship within neighbourhoods.
“In the current age of austerity we must remain positive and look forward to the future with optimism.
“The Big Lunch is one way of getting Hartlepool residents to come together to cement friendships and create stronger communities.”
