DOGS by the dozen turned out for a fundraising event with a difference.

There were pooches of all sizes at Summerhill, in Hartlepool, where the fourth annual Dogs’ Day Out event was held at the weekend.

Hartlepool & District Hospice and Pets at Home teamed up to organise the fun which included a sponsored walk, dog show, raffle, and treat bags for all canines.

All money raised will go towards the hospice which needs to raise £2.3m to continue providing the current range of services.

Hospice events fundraiser Greg Hildreth said: “We were delighted with the response to this year’s Dogs’ Day Out. With 80 dogs and their owners taking part in the walk and extra attractions this year, it was the biggest event of its kind we have had to date and will be looking to make next year’s even bigger and better.”

Greg added: “We have already had some fantastic amounts of sponsorship pledged and all of the money raised will fund our specialist patient care services.

Organisers are still collating the amount raised.
