A double boost has been received by Hartlepool fundraisers - and their big push is now just days away.

And next up is a group of bike riders who will tackle a 145-mile challenge from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Hartlepool from Thursday, September 15. Brendan Cafferkey is among them and he told how two other supporting causes has already backed the fund.

NES donated £5,900 to the fund while Dave Harrison also helped.

Brendan said: “Dave, a regular in the White House, came up with the idea of putting your loose changein the container and to date raised over £530. And still going.”

Next up is the bike riding challenge

During the three-day journey, the riders hope to complete 30 miles on their first day, 45 on the second and 70 on the third with a team of people in support vehicles to help them.

The riders will arrive back at Hartlepool Marina before heading to the White House - which is supporting the charity drive - for “a spread.”
