A Hartlepool dad has waved goodbye to retirement to start a business with his son.

Well-known in the insurance sector, Hartlepool’s Philip and Martin Smith, have reunited to launch a new company in the town’s Park Road.

The pair have launched Mayfield Insurance Brokers in a bid to meet increasing demand for local expertise.

Philip, 70, said: “I was fully-retired from my previous family firm and had resigned my directorship, but just to prove that you’re never too old, I was delighted to come out of retirement and accept my son’s invitation to join his new company.

“I’m really looking forward to a fresh start and an exciting new challenge.”

Martin and Philip, have a combined experience of nearly 70 years in the industry, having worked together for a range of commercial clients in various sectors including construction, manufacturing and the legal profession.

Mayfield, which will specialise in insurance provision for high net worth individuals and businesses across the North East, is a partner broker of Bluefin Network, part of the Bluefin Group, which is one of the leading insurance brokers in the UK.
