A FAMILY butchers is cooking up some Royal spirit after creating a unique pie to send to the loving couple.

Morrell & Sons, in York Road, Hartlepool, has made an extra large pork pie with the names of Prince William and Kate Middleton in the pastry.

And they have sent it off to London to arrive in time for today’s lavish do at Westminster Abbey.

Jackie Campbell, 44, who runs the firm with partner Richard Morrell, 35, said: “We’ve noticed people aren’t getting in the spirit of things so we thought we’d do our bit.

“Hopefully they will want to put it on the end of the buffet. I’m sure it would be popular.

“If they don’t, I’m sure the corgis will eat it, it won’t go

to waste.”

Richard is the fourth generation to run the shop that has now been around for 138 years and Jackie says that experience means Buckingham Palace should take note of their pie, which has a circumference of 12-inches.

Jackie added: “We’ve been doing this a while so our pies are well known and have even been served in the Ritz, we do know a thing or two about special occasions.”
