A New Year beckons - with council chiefs hoping it will lead to people embarking on a fitness drive.
If you’re thinking of shedding the extra pounds you gained over the festive season, Hartlepool Borough Council could have the answer.
It has drawn up a huge list of new health and fitness classes ranging from junior weight training sessions to karate for beginners, and from aquarobics to chair aerobics.
Principal recreation officer Maxine Crutwell said: “We want to give people that kickstart to get into fitness. People of all ages and abilities can get involved.
“We do have a big, friendly team of people here to offer one-to-one support.
“We want people to find out about promotions and new activities.”
Three council-run leisure centres are offering a comprehensive range of activities for 2013.
At Mill House Leisure Centre, activities include family fitness, junior weights, cyclefit, water mobility, pilates, healthy heart sessions and body balance.
The Headland Leisure Centre has sessions on table tennis, a tea dance, aeroboxing, badminton, and family fitness.
New activities for 2013 include seven personal training gym sessions for £100, and a bootcamp with six sessions costing £15.
Brierton Leisure Centre’s timetable includes beginners spinning classes, fit at 50 sessions, kettle bell sessions and football coaching.
