A DESERVING charity has received a boost as it continues its work to help cancer victims.
The Hartlepool Nalgo Club, in Wetsbourne Road, raised £186.50 to go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Club chairman Alan Doyle and his wife Julie, who is the club secretary, are pictured handing a cheque to Bryan Langston from the Hartlepool Fundraising Group of Macmillan.
The money was raised at the club through a collection and a raffle. Two million people – nearly double the previous estimate of 1.2 million – are now living with, and after, cancer according to new research released by Macmillan Cancer Support.
With more people living with cancer than ever before, the need for Macmillan’s work is constantly growing. Thanks to its loyal and committed supporters, nearly 98 per cent of the charity’s income comes from voluntary giving and fundraising.
