A well-earned day off for Philip

WEIGHT-LOSS wonder Philip Bentham gave himself a day off at Christmas from his fantastic fitness regime.

But the winner of our Weigh Forward competition was determined not to let his new-found healthy self slip, despite the temptations of the festive season.

He revealed to the Mail how he enjoyed a family-filled Christmas Day with a meal out at the Staincliffe Hotel in Seaton Carew, complete with all the trimmings.

He said: “We got the Darwin Suite. We don’t do cooking at Christmas.”

But it was a well-deserved break from what had been a hugely impressive change in his way of living.

The 33-year-old office worker said: “I am feeling healthier and fitter. I went from 16st 8lb to 13st 8lb during the competition and I have lost another half a stone since the final weigh-in.

“I have maintained that since the competition and I will be keeping the weight off.

“Weigh Forward was definitely beneficial. I can do more with my kids now, such as sporting activities.

“I still go running and I do karate twice a week.”

Dad-of-two Philip shed 18 per cent of his starting weight during Weigh Forward, which was run by the Hartlepool Mail in conjunction with Tavistock Leisure and personal trainer Steven Smith.

He is now enjoying being able to fit into smaller clothes, having gone from a size 38 waist to 32, and he said he now has more energy and confidence.

He won a hotel stay and two months of one-to-one personal training.
