A TROUPE of dancers scooped a bunch of awards at their first dance festival.

Toe-tappers from Hartlepool’s Chelsea Lupton School of Dance went to the 2012 Flamingo Land Dance Festival, in Pickering, and won a whole host of prizes to boot.

The youngsters, aged from two to 23, danced freestyle and disco and wowed the contest judges with their flair and ability.

Their teacher Chelsea Lupton, who holds her classes in the Avondale Centre, off Mapleton Road, was proud of the talented bunch who she said worked extra-hard to perfect their steps and routines. Chelsea, 20, who has danced since she was just two, said: “They all danced fantastically. It was their first dance festival and they did brilliantly.

“Hopefully it’ll be a sign of things to come and they’ll do well at the next one. They all can’t wait to go to the next competition.”
