A FORMER driving instructor who died after his car collided with a minibus has been named as Colin George Brown.

The 60-year-old from Lancaster Road, in Hartlepool, died after the smash on the B1280 as it joins the A179 Hart bypass on the outskirts of town, last Thursday.

It is believed he was trying to perform a u-turn in the road when he collided with the Arriva minibus, which left 11 passengers in the bus injured.

Mr Brown was a former driving instructor, who at the time of his death was working for a landscaping company based near Eaglescliffe.

He leaves behind two sons, one who lives in County Durham and another who lives in Australia.

An inquest into his death will open on Tuesday, May 21.
