A COLLEGE student landed a top award after impressing tutors with his building knowledge.

Ehren Tanser has received the Best Student Award for February from East Durham College.

The 16-year-old, from Wheatley Hill, won the award after he showed “great attitude” to his studies on an access to building services course at the Peterlee-based college’s specialist construction training facility, The Technical Academy.

Robert Hutchinson, an education manager based at the Academy, said: “Ehren is a smashing student, he’s got bags of ambition and has a clear career goal.

“He’s proved he can use his own initiative on a range of practical and theory tasks on his course, and this should go a long way to ensuring he gains the entry requirements needed to progress on to the next level.”

Ehren said: “It was great to win this award and is great for the CV.

“I’m really enjoying being at the Academy and learning loads of new things, meeting new people and making some great friends.”

The Technical Academy, located on Peterlee’s South West Industrial Estate, offers a high-quality training environment in a range of construction trades including plastering, tiling, gas, electric and fitted interiors.
