A Peterlee student and young entrepreneur has won a chance to work for one of the world’s largest market research companies.
Kirsty Fishwick, from Peterlee and who attends East Durham College’s Peter Jones Enterprise Academy (PJEA), will move to Surrey for four weeks to work with GfK Group.
Kirsty won the coveted work placement after competing against a number of other PJEA students from across the country.
Kirsty, 19, said: “It was a fantastic opportunity, so I worked really hard on my preparations for the initial stage and was really happy to get the opportunity of an interview.
“The interview was really positive and I discussed why I was interested in the placement and what I hoped to gain from my time with GfK. It was fantastic to hear I had got the placement. It is a huge opportunity and I can’t wait to get down there in April and get started.”
The students had to apply for the role with a professional CV and covering letter. After being impressed by Kirsty’s application she received a telephone interview and then had an informal interview to discuss the role and ideas with the company. She will start in April.
The PJEA is on the hunt for aspiring young female entrepreneurs in County Durham to unleash their potential and go for it in business.
PJEA lecturer Jill Campbell said: “The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy is a fantastic way to help develop your skills in business and enterprise and if you have a business idea it’s a great way to get that off the ground.”
