Accident causes MetroCentre Christmas shopping traffic nightmare

Shoppers face traffic chaos after an accident closed part of one of the region's busiest roads.

The offside lane of the southbound carriageway of the A1M Western Bypass is closed due to a two-vehicle accident near Blaydon Bridge.

The incident is having a severe impact on motorists on the way to the MetroCentre for the last weekend shoppign day before Chrismtas.

Police are at the scene.
