MOTORISTS faced tricky rush-hour journeys after two crashes on the A19.
Motorists reported one lane closed and queueing traffic on the A19 northbound in Sunderland between the Herrington Interchange and the A183 junction, because of an accident involving a lorry and a van and debris on the road just after 8am today.
Congestion was reported as far as the A1018 junction at Seaham.
Early reports also indicated queueing traffic on the opposite carriageway as passing drivers slowed to look at the scene.
Drivers heading in the same direction also faced rush-hour delays because of a separate accident near Easington services where there was a collision between and van and a car.
But both crash scenes were cleared just after 9.30am and the lanes are now fully open.
