ORGANISERS of a popular annual village fete are hoping this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

Activities and games are planned for all of the family at this year’s Elwick village fete.

Fairground rides, pony rides, a disco and craft activities can all be enjoyed by youngsters, while adults can make the most of a selection of stalls, enjoy refreshments and try their hand at the various activities on offer on the day.

The popular dog show will once again be an attraction at the event and the impressive Hartlepool Hawks cheerleading club will strut their stuff on the village green.

Maxine Coss, chairwoman of the Elwick Millennium Association, organisers of the event, said the fete always proves popular, but is hoping this year will be the best yet.

“The fete gets bigger and better every year,” said Maxine.

“But this year we want it to be the biggest and best yet.

“There’s things for all of the family to enjoy on the day and we still have a few bits to organise and confirm in the next few weeks.”

The event will take place in the village on Sunday, September 9, from 2pm-5pm.

As well as an array of events and activities, a photography competition will also be judged on the day.

More information about the competition and how to enter will appear in the Mail in the coming weeks.

Anyone who wishes to set up a stall at the fete or for more information should go to the post office in the village or call (01429) 272216.
