Air ambulance launched after cyclist hurt in Blackhall road crash

An air ambulance response was sparked after a cyclist was knocked unconscious in a road crash this morning.

The cyclist, who is in his 50s, was involved in a collision with a car in Blackhall Colliery, County Durham, at about 9am this morning.

A Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) was launched to provide assistance at the scene.

The man was assessed by the GNAA trauma team and, despite initial concerns, was found to have only suffered minor injuries.

He was then taken to hospital by road ambulance for treatment.
