Airport adds flights to Madeira

SUNSEEKERS have been boosted by the news that a tour operator is operating flights from Durham Tees Valley airport from this summer.

Atlantic Holidays, the largest independent specialist tour operator to the Portuguese island of Madeira, will depart from Durham Tees Valley from July 25.

Peel Airports sales director Nick Smillie said: “This is a real vote of confidence by Atlantic Holidays in Durham Tees Valley and we expect that people will respond positively to fly to Madeira from their local airport.

“We are working all the time to attract new routes and services and, if this initial flight is well supported, it could encourage Atlantic Holidays to operate more services next year.”

Dino Toouli, sales and marketing manager at Atlantic Holidays, said: “We are delighted to add Durham Tees Valley Airport to our portfolio and we are confident that Madeira will prove extremely popular to those living in the catchment area.”
