EVERYONE is being urged to hop on down to Hartlepool Families First on Saturday and have an egg-cellent fun-packed day.

A giant Easter bunny will be visiting the charity’s Greatham Street base for the annual Easter extravaganza which helps boosts its coffers.

The Easter celebration is one of the charity’s main fundraisers and is vital to its finances.

The bumper day is part of an annual fundraising calendar to help swell the coffers of the much-needed charity and organisers are urging everyone to back the Easter bunny event and help the charity maintain the wide-ranging services it provides on a daily basis.

Hartlepool Families First has been providing services for children in Hartlepool with special needs and their families for nearly 30 years.

Last year the Hartlepool Mail ran a fundraising appeal which saw almost £13,000 raised to help the charity buy a replacement PlayBus.

On Saturday, there will also be real-life little rabbits there for youngsters to see.

Children will get the chance to handle and feed the cute Easter bunnies when they make their appearance on the day.

Easter-themed arts and craft sessions will also be on throughout the day while children can have fun decorating their own Easter eggs and making Easter bunny ears.

There will be a variety of stalls set up by the town’s local sellers where people can purchase charms, hand-crafted bags, body lotions and a wide range of other gifts.

Refreshments and home-made cakes will be available all day.

Lauren Wilkinson, of Hartlepool Families First, told the Mail: “It’s a great day out for parents as well as a fun way of keeping the kids entertained over the Easter holidays.

“Fundraising is an essential part of the charity’s survival and we need to constantly raise money in order to continue our vital work.”

Adults get in for free and there is a £3 charge for children to cover the visit of the Easter bunnies and the cost of the eggs.

The event will take place on Saturday at Hartlepool Families First, 6-7 Greatham Street, Hartlepool between noon and 4pm.
