AN all-conquering football team is hoping to land yet another title in a matter of weeks.

And if it does, the High Tunstall College of Science under-16 team will be collecting a trophy at the Hartlepool Mail Sports Awards.

Just look at this for a proud record.

In recent years, the team has played 80, won 62, drawn 7, lost 12, scored 247 and only conceded 57 goals on their way to ten district and regional titles.

It prompted the college’s head of PE Ben Holden to put forward the Year 11 boys for the awards.

Mr Holden said: “This is undoubtedly the strongest football side the college has ever produced. The team claimed the Hartlepool league, Cleveland Cup and Durham County Cup in an eventful season.

“Despite a penalty shoot-out setback in the Town Cup, the team picked themselves up to defeat English Martyrs in the Cleveland Cup at Middlesbrough’s training ground.

“In the Durham County Cup, the team were indebted to a Tom Brace injury time goal to secure their third Durham County in the past five years. Their record over the years is very impressive.”

The inaugural awards are now less than a month away and will be held at the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield,

In the meantime, we are continuing the search for more entries for our inaugural awards.

You have until September 13 to put forward your favourites, whether it’s grass roots stars to those excelling at an international level.
