Appeal after crash near A19 leaves three injured

Witnesses who saw a two-car smash which left three people injured are being urged to come forward by traffic police.

Officers are appealing for information after a Nissan Almera and a Vauxhall Corsa collided at the junction of the A179 and the B1280 onto the A19 Southbound in Hartlepool.

The collision occurred on Wednesday at around 3.50pm.

As a result of the collision the 33-year-old man who was driving the Nissan was treated at the University Hospital of North Tees for a fractured hand, ribs and ankle.

The woman 18-year-old who had been driving the Corsa was treated for minor injuries and a 19-year-old man who was a passenger in the same vehicle was treated for a fractured spine at the University Hospital of North Tees.

Any witnesses who may have seen the collision are asked to contact Pc Lee Benson from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 053250.
