Appeal after girl suffers broken leg after being hit by a car

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a girl suffered a broken leg when she was hit by a car.

The eight-year-old was returning home from Dene House Primary School, in Peterlee, when she was hit by a blue Renault Megane travelling east on Yoden Way, in Peterlee.

The girl was treated at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton for her injuries.

Police have just released details of the incident, which happened around 3.20pm on Thursday, May 16.

Officers want anyone who saw what happened to contact them.

Any witnesses should contact PC Jennifer Newby, of the roads policing unit at Durham Police, on the non-emergency 101 number.
