Police are appealing for information after a pile of rubbish was set fire, which then spread to a garden in Hartlepool.

The incident took place on Monday February, 1 at around 6pm in the rear alley of Lowthian Road.

The rubbish fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately, then spread to a garden fence, wheelie bin and mattress which were in the rear garden of a property.

The heat from the fire also caused an internal water pipe to burst.
