Appeal after teenager’s jaw broken in attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a broken jaw in an attack.

The 19-year-old man was attacked on the beach in Seaton Carew adjacent to the sand dunes.

Police say the incident took place after a verbal row between the victim and another male.

The victim was punched to the jaw, resulting in four fractures, which required hospital treatment and an operation.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 8ins-tall, of stocky build, with short ginger hair and wearing a white T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The attack happened at around 3.30pm on Sunday, March 11, but police have just released the details.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Andrew Cartwright, of Hartlepool Police, on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
