ONE of the biggest charity arts events for years raised more than £2,000 for a heart unit.

The Northern Art Experience was held at Wynyard Park’s The Wynyard Rooms and featured a large and eye-grabbing exhibition of work by artists from the North East and beyond.

All proceeds from ticket sales have been donated to the South Cleveland Heart Fund, which supports The James Cook University Hospital’s cardio unit.

Adrian Davies, chairman of the South Cleveland Heart Fund, was delighted to receive a cheque for more than £2,000.

It was presented by Martin Barber, managing partner at Evolution LLP, ArtsBank managing director Bryan Goodall, and Sarah Hargin, of the Wynyard Rooms.

Adrian said: “We are thrilled to have been presented with this cheque. Donations such as these help keep our fantastic heart unit at the leading edge of advances by purchasing equipment and improving facilities for patients and carers alike.

“We couldn’t do what we do without the help we get from these types of fundraisers.

Martin added: “We are very happy to have helped raise so much for the South Cleveland Heart Fund so it can continue its good work.”

The event was hosted by North East -based art initiative ArtsBank, regional accountancy and business advisory firm Evolution LLP and Wynyard Park Ltd.

Plans are already underway to hold a similar charity event next year.
