Savvy shoppers looking for a deal this Black Friday should step away from the shelves, and instead head to the nearest Asda filling station.

Drivers topping up their fuel at any of Asda’s 277 filling stations will only pay 99.7p per litre on unleaded fuel, and 103.7 p per litre on diesel across the weekend.

These are the lowest prices offered since summer 2009, with today's announcement tying in with Asda's commitment to invest £26 million in savings throughout the festive period.

The offer will run for three days, starting today.

Andy Clarke, Asda president and CEO, urged the Chancellor to continue with the current price freeze on fuel duty, instead of the anticipated yearly fuel duty rises in line with inflation from April 2016.

In the latest Mumdex report, created ahead of the Autumn Statement, Asda mums said they think the Government needs to focus on to take pressure off household incomes including, imposing a limit on energy and utility prices and increasing the personal tax allowance, along with a continued freeze on fuel duty.

Mr Clarke said: “The Chancellor’s freeze on fuel duty is what our customers were hoping for but it doesn’t look like it will be long lived.

"We’re adding a further boost by investing in a three day fuel price drop meaning drivers can now benefit from fuel as low as 99.7ppl in the crucial run-up to the festive period.

"We’d urge the Chancellor to continue with a freeze on fuel duty to help maintain discretionary income levels for families rather than going ahead with an anticipated inflationary rise from April next year.

"Our commitment is to keep prices as low as possible for drivers and we’d ask the Chancellor to do the same."

On Monday, prices will revert to a market leading cost of 103.7ppl on unleaded and 106.7ppl on diesel.

An income tracker from Asda has revealed that vehicle fuel inflation has dropped from last year to this - with an Asda tank of fuel costing £14 less than last year. This is based on a 70 litre tank.
